MEET THE ARTIST Amy Dunn

The moon is glistening the smoke on the ridge, is calling for me, from so long ago, in the mountains, this hollow, my home.

From the Carolina mountains and the suburbs of Philadelphia to the heartland of Indiana and the historic coast of Florida, Amy’s journey through the world of art has been long and winding. The soil and sand of these places has fed and nurtured her talent.

Amy Dunn is a multidisciplinary artist—painter, songwriter, and musician to start—whose work spans canvas, paper, clay and sound. With a background in architectural drafting, she combines structure with spontaneity: from mind pulling inks, watercolor with soft expression, to large-scale acrylic and oil paintings. Carting around artworks for a decade, they are ready to see the light.

Amy has created prolifically, producing hundreds (if not thousands) of works alongside her original music. Her visual and musical practices share the same core—vision, presence, and connection—each one a translation of experience into form. All of her music stems from a need to create, a need to process. Her sound is clear with a gritty realism as is the nature of her experience thus far.

Her art has been exhibited in galleries, featured on album covers, posters, and collected in both private and public spaces. Whether through paint or song, Amy’s work is about present expression: making something that speaks and stays.

She has always enjoying collaboration, bringing a vision together through sound is her favorite. If you’re interested in a commissioned work feel free to fill out my contact form or email me at artist@amydunn.art.

I always look forward to seeing your visions come to life! Thanks for visiting my site!

After a short detour to her birthplace of Asheville, North Carolina, events and fate conspired to call Amy back to her Indiana home. Now working from her studio nestled in the woods and hills of Salt Creek, she continues to develop and refine her signature style. Her future goals would include building her own studio space, a place to rest, reflect, and most importantly, throw paint at large canvases as her ambitions guides her.

Amy is also an avid songwriter. She began writing music in 2008, picked up her old classical guitar that was a gift from her father and began to play again. Her style is what she likes to describe as ‘Dark Disney’ Not too serious but has a deep message attached to it. She can be found playing open mics in whatever city she goes to, having gotten over her stage fright almost immediately, its another outlet for spinning mind and extroverted personality.

In the last year she has participated in a local songwriting group of Hoosiers that has reignited her passion for lyricism, usually writing from real events in her life, it’s a positive way to get her thoughts out into the universe. Ranging from Appalachian country to punk rock, hip hop to ethereal ballads, she always has something to say.

From The Artist –

I want to give special thanks to my husband, Adam, for this beautiful website and creative space: a place where I can continue to grow and flourish with my lifelong dream of being an artist. Whether it’s a kind word, helping me pick out artwork to show, or just creating art together at Lantern House Studio, without you, none of this would be possible. This last decade has been a time for growth and I am grateful to have gone through it with you. I love you.
