Behind the Canvas
From the Carolina mountains and the suburbs of Philadelphia to the heartland of Indiana and the historic coast of Florida, Amy’s journey through the world of art has been long and winding. The soil and sand of these places has fed and nurtured her talent.
Growing up in the midwestern cultural oasis of the 1990’s Bloomington, Amy was surrounded by art. As a child, her creativity flourished. After high school, she pursued academics, graduated with a degree in Architectural Drafting, and began working in the field.
A move to Florida in 2011 rekindled her forgotten dream of becoming an artist. She began painting again, first experimenting with acrylics and watercolors before moving on to ink. Her work evolved to encompass new techniques, using gravity to manipulate the ink, creating natural shapes that appear throughout her work.
As her unique style evolved, she began working commercially, showing in galleries, and creating original pieces for musicians including album art, flyers, and posters. Her pieces are instantly recognizable and on display in many venues, private collections, and public spaces.
After a short detour to her birthplace of Asheville, North Carolina, events and fate conspired to call Amy back to her Indiana home. Now working from her studio nestled in the woods and hills of Salt Creek, she continues to develop and refine her signature style.
